I.gen. plur. cordium, and 1; acc. to Fragm. Bob. Nom. et Pron. p. 132, also cordum, but without example, the heart (very freq. in all periods and species of composition).

II.Lit., the heart, as the chief source of the circulation of the blood, and so of life; cf. §§ — Also for the Greek, the cardiac extremity of the stomach.

B.Meton. (pars pro toto; caput, II.), a person. — Of animals. — A term of endearment, (cf. corculum).

III.Trop.

A.The heart, as the seat of feeling, emotion, etc., heart, soul, feeling (poet.)
